“The strawberries, raspberries and black
currants have been picked and frozen or made into jam. It’s been a good year
for soft fruit. Now we are into salads and vegetables; potatoes, beetroot,
lettuce, carrots, peas, French beans and runner beans. And on the horizon;
leeks and cabbage and parsnips and Brussels and marrows all grown on our
allotments.

Somewhere to go in the fresh air, healthy
exercise and the excitement of actually seeing seeds grow into food
producing plants for the whole family
(OK not every one likes marrows, but they
make good raffle prizes)

Coming up will be the time for autumn digging
and selecting next year’s seeds, so why not think about having an allotment
next year. The first year’s rent is free and then it could only cost you
some £12 each year after that. (Why not share it with a friend?)

Home grown food with nothing added but
exercise and horse or cow manure. Everything organic!
